Tsavo East is vast and uncrowded, and the late afternoon is when it comes alive. Head out from Voi gate in an open 4x4 to find elephants coloured red by the soil, giraffe browsing the acacias and lions resting near the waterholes, then stop on a rise for a sundowner as the sun drops behind the trees.
